An excellent Quackometer post on ‘Holfordism’ has just gone up. Le Canard Noir argues that, over the past 30 years, Patrick Holford has had a huge impact on the nutritionist scene in the UK. The training college he set up, many years ago, has been responsible for educating many of the practicing nutritional therapists in this country, including most of the famous ‘media nutritionists’ that appear in our newspapers and our television. Supplement brands bear his name and our bookshops sell his nutritional bibles by the truck load. And now, Patrick is on a mission to improve the mental health and performance of our children through his charitable work at Food for the Brain. Patrick undeniably shows the attributes of a true leader, being inspirational, energetic and professing an alluring message.
But – asks Le Canard Noir – what is his philosophy of ‘optimum nutrition’ based on? How have his ideas come about and will his approach deliver his stated goal of giving us ’100% health for life’? Click here to find out.
Also, I’m pleased to say that Holford Watch is in the 60th Skeptic’s Circle blog carnival, over on Infophilia. Click across to read about everything from chi to vibrations to junkfood science…
