Maybe, to help avoid this type of misunderstanding, The Observer could print a disclaimer on the masthead of future editions. Something like ‘The contents of this paper may or may not be true. If it is not true, please adjust your understanding of the English language until it becomes true.’

Or they could just get their facts right, and correct their errors. Don’t see that happening any time soon, though…
