Le Canard Noir looks at Holford Myths

Having received an e-mail from Patrick Holford – pointing us towards holfordmyths.com – we were struggling to see how this site related to the criticisms raised on this blog. Luckily, the Quackometer has blogged about holfordmyths.com: arguing that “the myths Patrick is trying to dispel bear no resemblance to any of the criticisms made against him – with the odd exception.”

We’re with Le Canard Noir on this. We are grateful to Holford for pointing out that he does not eat fish three times a day, and have added a clarification to this blog to make that clear. We are also grateful to Holford for making clear that he is not a doctor, and does not claim to be one, and hope that the journalists of the world will take note. However, we regret that holfordmyths.com does not seem to address our substantive scientific and ethical criticisms of Holford’s science and practice.

  • “Dieticians are regulated by the British Dietetic Association and nutritional therapists are regulated by the Nutritional Therapy Council”

I thought the BDA was a professional assocation/trade union and that dietitians were regulated by the Health Professions Council. As I have said before the NTC does not appear to be doing much regulating at the moment ….

Still, you can’t argue with a source as authoratative as Holford Myths.com ……

  • Ah don’t, Lee – that’s how people get hernias, caught unawares by a good belly-laugh.
