The 82nd Skeptic’s Circle is up now, at the wonderfully named Happy Jihad’s House of Pancakes. Apparently, Unbelievers will be Persecuted. *backs slowly towards the door*
There’s also an interesting post on Left Brain Right Brain, about Life’s 4 Living and autism. A Life’s 4 Living blog referred to an autistic boy’s treatment, described here by his mum:
My understanding of illness and disability is quite different to Life’s 4 Living – I am proud of Y and what he achieves – I see him as different but not sick. At the end of the first day I wondered if I had made a big mistake in coming – I had come a long way to be told my beautiful child’s negative energy smelled so bad that the doors of the room had to be opened and for other children to laugh at him when all he wanted to do was play with them.
So much for ‘alternative’ medicine being empowering.
What a horrible way to treat any child, let alone one that’s asking for help.
I feel sad, angry and disgusted all at the same time.
That’s pretty sick. I hope L4L’s operations are further exposed for the sham that they appear to be. I get the distinct feeling that someone is making money out of these children’s special needs.
Hello – my name is Marian and I am the mother in question ! I have posted a response to this discussion on the Left Brain Right Brain site, and would ask that you have a look at that – thanks.
Hi Marian, I did have a look there, and see you felt you were taken out of context. I’ve not found the interview with you on L4L site, but if anyone did say the above about your child, then no matter, how much benefit he derived from the trip to Croatia, I would still want to question the ignorance of the person who made that comment.
