Roy Rutherford (key Dore figure) has a misleading CV

It is a sadly recurrent theme that figures from the world of AltMed tend to pad their CVs – Dr Roy Rutherford seems to be one of these although the GMC explicitly advises against such practices. Continue reading

Patrick Holford Advises You to Remove Mercury Fillings and Undergo Chelation But Is Still Silent About Andrew Wakefield?

Former Visiting Professor Patrick Holford is still ignoring the sore thumb issue of Dr Andrew Wakefield and the findings of fraud and deliberate manipulation in association with his research. Holford is advising people to take his advice, buy his books and supplements and undergo unevidenced interventions such as chelation for unproven heavy metal toxicity. Continue reading

Stupid autism article in the Independent, and Research Autism are not helping

We were surprised to seeing the Independent running a story by Rob Sharp which can be summed up as ‘autistic child develops as she gets older (while parents invest lots of time and money in dubious treatments)’. This may be … Continue reading

Holford: chromium “is well known to help stabilise blood sugar levels in diabetics at daily doses of 500mcg or more”

Patrick Holford is still failing to provide anything useful via his interaction-free blog. His current offering is his tired old flogging of chromium supplements because he refuses to update his knowledge about them and the actual clinical evidence available. Continue reading

Patrick Holford Promotes Error: Does This Explain His Continuing Support for Opposing MMR and Supporting Andrew Wakefield’s Research?

Former Visiting Professor Patrick Holford is still failing to reconsider his recommendations for the ‘treatment’ of autism despite the thorough examination of Andrew Wakefield’s research and related work and the conclusion that it is fatally flawed both by error and through deliberate manipulation. Continue reading

Holford believes that meat and dairy foods are “devoid of essential fats”

Oh dear. Holford is blogging much more quickly that we could hope to point out his mistakes. However, one error of note in a recent post is Holford’s reference to “foods rich in saturated fats and devoid of essential fats … Continue reading

Patrick Holford on Andrew Wakefield: He Needs to Issue an Update

Several of Patrick Holford’s entrepreneurial products for autism have their theoretical justification in Andrew Wakefield’s work. With the recent explicit findings from the Autism Omnibus, it is clear that Wakefield’s research can not be relied upon (referred to in terms of “fraud” and “manipulation). It is past time for Holford to update his readers and subscribers who depend upon him for up-to-date research and advice. Continue reading

Patrick Holford and Zeitgeist Addendum

Patrick Holford’s recommends that his readers and subscribers should watch Zeitgeist Addendum. He then extracts from its disingenuous and manipulative nonsense to re-serve his own agenda that people should eschew medicine and empower themselves by purchasing his books, health club subscriptions and pills. It’s a free world and people choose their ‘enslavement’ but it is an interesting use of paranoia as a marketing tool. Continue reading
