It didn’t happen here and for good reason. But someday there needs to be a test case for all this. It took years for the music industry to get round to legal action but look at the current draconian reactions to people making illegal downloads. It might take years but the old media industries are going to try and take out some parts of the new media in their death throes.

I heard Ben Goldacre on Skeptic’s podcast.

If Jeni Barnett had been even the least bit contrite I might have felt sorry that so many people think she’s ill-informed and said so in public. But, she isn’t contrite, she is ill-informed and she gets paid to air it in public.

She deserves everything she’s got and more. I would hope that she consults people and reads some decent material but like Stephen Fry said in his own polite way, she seems proud of her ignorance and wants to nurture it.

It seems like an ecletic mix of recreational outrage alongside people who are explaining why it is wrong and other people who feel it is wrong but don’t know why or don’t grasp why it matters.
