The case of Katie Peck casts an interesting sidelight on the issue that, very soon, if nutritional therapists are employed by the NHS, then there is no mechanism for challenging them for dispensing the sort of advice that might lead to a hearing before the Health Professions Council if it were given by a Registered Dietician. Patrick Holford and Other GMTV Pundits Should Be Glad That They Don’t Work for German TV
Former Visiting Professor Patrick Holford is the Head of Science and Education at Biocare and some of his value to that company might lie in his ready access to the audience of GMTV. In the wake of the news that german TV channel ARD/WDR has sacked their health expert, Mr Health, Hademar Bankhofer, for the appearance of impropriety and the suspicion that the TV channel might look as if it is condoning the promotion of health products in which Bankhofer has a financial interest. Holford must be relieved that GMTV does not seem to have such standards or to value the trust of its audience as much as ARD/WDR do theirs. Continue reading

BANT and Conflict of Interest: YorkTest and Similar Commission
Members of BANT are allowed to accept commission on lab tests and supplements and are under no obligation to declare these to the client; unlike the financial services industry where such practices are frowned upon. Is this acceptable? Particularly when nutritional therapists frequently accuse medical professionals of such conflicts of interest. Continue reading
