Joanna Blythman: Please Read the Data Appendices About Organic Food Before Conjuring ‘Cancerous Conspiracies’: Part 1
Joanna Blythman and the Soil Association accuse the Food Standards Agency of ignoring the statistics in its own review for differences in nutrient levels between organic and conventionally produced food. We suggest, respectfully, that Blythman and the Soil Association are wrong and refer them to the original data. Continue reading

FSA’s Low Income Diet and Nutrition Survey: Some Snippets
The Eating within recommended dietary guidelines and on a budget project is having some difficulties. Not, oddly, on the actual shopping, cooking or budgeting fronts but the dietary analysis that I want to perform. On the upside, I have located … Continue reading

Experienced Registered Dietitians can find it difficult to createa diet that meets all the dietary guidelines for vitamins and minerals within a day’s worth of calories. However, perhaps the message is to balance the calculation of nutrients over the week, rather than the day? Continue reading

People Successfully Convinced that Healthy Food Is Expensive So Resorting to Supplement Pills: Patrick Holford and Vitazyme
Former Visiting Professor Patrick Holford is Head of Science and Education at Biocare so he has a substantial and understandable interest in selling supplements. Creating a large-scale market for supplements depends upon several factors. The factors include convincing people that: … Continue reading

Patrick Holford Promotes His Apocryphal Homocysteine Gospel in The News of the World
Former Visiting Professor Patrick Holford gives the News of the World the benefit of his insight into homocysteine but makes some suprisingly basic errors. Especially surprising as this is such a recurrent theme in Holford’s entrepreneurial scheme for selling diagnostic tests, nutritionista consultations and ‘corrective’ supplements. It’s time for Holford’s wisdom on homocysteine to be retired to ‘apocrypha’ in his Optimum Nutrition Bible. Continue reading

Jerome Burne, co-author of Food Is Better Medicine Than Drugs, with anti-vaccinationist Patrick Holford, writes another anti-vax piece in the Daily Mail – which can’t make up its mind whether it wants to inform or terrify its readers. There are serious discussions to be had about whether or not the UK introduces chickenpox vaccination but this isn’t the way to do it. If Daily Mail had wanted to provide an informed and balance article, then they would have asked a credible expert to write it. Continue reading

Holford: chromium “is well known to help stabilise blood sugar levels in diabetics at daily doses of 500mcg or more”
Patrick Holford is still failing to provide anything useful via his interaction-free blog. His current offering is his tired old flogging of chromium supplements because he refuses to update his knowledge about them and the actual clinical evidence available. Continue reading

Patrick Holford and Zeitgeist Addendum
Patrick Holford’s recommends that his readers and subscribers should watch Zeitgeist Addendum. He then extracts from its disingenuous and manipulative nonsense to re-serve his own agenda that people should eschew medicine and empower themselves by purchasing his books, health club subscriptions and pills. It’s a free world and people choose their ‘enslavement’ but it is an interesting use of paranoia as a marketing tool. Continue reading

The Daily Record on Holford’s “Online Guide To Complete Health And Happiness”
The Daily Record have learned nothing from their previous gaffe in which they allowed an IONista to dispense erroneous information about food. Not content with that previous free advertising for Patrick Holford’s subscription service, they now argue that YOU can … Continue reading
