Neal’s Yard were nice enough to agree to feature on the Guardian’s Ethical Living Blog: to answer reader questions. Guardian readers donated thiee time in order to contribute plenty of interesting questions (the comments page on this story runs to five pages) on issues such as what level of evidence they demand before selling [...]

Daily Mail, Jerome Burne Want to Scare or Mis-inform Readers About the Chickenpox Vaccine

Jerome Burne, co-author of Food Is Better Medicine Than Drugs, with anti-vaccinationist Patrick Holford, writes another anti-vax piece in the Daily Mail – which can’t make up its mind whether it wants to inform or terrify its readers. There are serious discussions to be had about whether or not the UK introduces chickenpox vaccination but this isn’t the way to do it. If Daily Mail had wanted to provide an informed and balance article, then they would have asked a credible expert to write it.

Will Patrick Holford Be Calling Upon His Mailing List to Sign the New Andrew Wakefield Petition? If So, We’ve Made Some Annotations

In June 2007 Patrick Holford contacted his mailing list to ask them to sign a petition in support of Andrew Wakefield. In February 2009, there is a new petition to support Wakefield. Holford has yet to redact his products and recommendations that rely upon Wakefield’s research so will he ask his followers to sign this new petition? Patrick Holford Promotes Error: Does This Explain His Continuing Support for Opposing MMR and Supporting Andrew Wakefield’s Research?

Patrick Holford on Andrew Wakefield: He Needs to Issue an Update

Several of Patrick Holford’s entrepreneurial products for autism have their theoretical justification in Andrew Wakefield’s work. LBC and Global Radio, Currently London’s Biggest Sulk?

Dr Ben Goldacre has received a complaint from LBC and Global Radio that Jeni Barnett has received a volume of unpleasant email. We are sorry to hear that as many Bad Science bloggers will know how that feels from experience. Nonetheless, some of this might have been avoided if LBC and Global Radio had been more savvy in their handling of the issue and more ready to engage with the topic of what had irritated so many people.

Jeni Barnett and the Missing Blog Posts About MMR Segment on LBC Radio

Jeni Barnett and LBC Radio, you might wish there to be an EMP to remove all traces of this sad and sorry incident concerning the ill-conceived MMR segment and the kerfuffle with Dr Ben Goldacre but that isn’t going to happen. Deleting blog posts will not help you mend fences.

David Aaronovitch Calls for A Class Action Against Stupidity (Well, LBC Radio and Jeni Barnett, We’re Editorialising)

David Aaronovitch of The Times is on the side of Ben Goldacre in his dispute with LBC Radio about the Jeni Barnett MMR Segment. He semi-seriously calls for a class against LBC for permitting a presenter to inflict her preposterous prejudices on her listeners, to the detriment of someone else’s kids.

Jeni Barnett. Has The Streisand Effect Taught You and LBC Radio Nothing?

Jeni Barnett and LBC Radio compound her mistakes of recent days (who knew that was possible) and delete comments from her blog posts. Except, on the internet, nothing ever really disappears.
